A Different Future is a non-governmental organization of religious leaders, civic leaders, scholars and communications experts that aims to amplify the voices of Israelis and Palestinians who are working together in mutual respect, and thereby to help reclaim the public idea space from extremist elements that dehumanize the other and present images of hatred and violence which foster mistrust and create a sense of irreconcilable differences.

Education for Peace in Iraq Center. They produce very well informed ideas about how to deal with the Iraq situation. There are action alerts and excellent news links and reports from Iraq. This is very good site.
Friend's Committee on National Legislation is a very well-respected, nonpartisan Quaker lobby on Capital Hill. FCNL has a long history of contributing to progressive legislation on environmental, peace and social justice issues. Their website keeps track of current issues and has many opportunities to take action. They publish excellent reports and have a great newsletter.
Military Families Speak Out is an organization of people who are opposed to war in Iraq and who have relatives or loved ones in the military.
CitizenWorks - Practical program for limiting corporate power and restoring democracy - and some very cool T-shirts!
Democracy Rising is working hard to build a movement for ending the Iraq war NOW. They are doing practical organizing. There is a lot of good information on the site.
BRING THEM HOME NOW! is a campaign of military families, veterans, active duty personnel, reservists and others opposed to the ongoing war in Iraq and galvanized to action by George W. Bush's inane and reckless challenge to armed Iraqis resisting occupation to "Bring 'em on." Our mission is to mobilize military families, veterans, and GIs themselves to demand: an end to the occupation of Iraq and other misguided military adventures; and an immediate return of all US troops to their home duty stations.

Liberty Tree Foundation for the Democratic Revolution - a non-profit organization rooted in the belief that the American Revolution is a living tradition whose greatest promise is democracy. Our central purpose is to build on the accomplishments of earlier American movements by launching a new stage in the struggle for democracy.
Circle of Life operates from a deep belief in the interdependence and interconnection of all life. Circle of Life is a stand for peace, justice and environmental sustainability; and in that space, they create powerful events and meaningful opportunities for people and organizations to make a difference in the world we share. Founded by Julia Butterfly Hill.
Voices for Creative Nonviolence: This is a successor organization to Voices in the Wilderness, which campaigned to end economic and military warfare against the Iraqi people starting in 1996. They are very active in the civil disobedience against the current phase of our Iraq war. You can also read about Nobel Peace Prize nominee Kathy Kelly's experiences in prison for protesting war.
Critical Concern maintained by Dennis Mills in Olympia. VERY extensive with sections on Iraq, Rachel Corrie, and other areas.
Sojourners Magazine: A broadly based Christian community that has spoken out on issues of peace, justice and poverty for decades. Their website has a great compilation of resources and responses of MANY religious and other groups to the terrorist attacks and organizing for peace. A Christian voice that has standing in conservative and liberal ecumenical circles. You may want to check out Confessing Christ in a World of Violence.
American Friends Service Committee. Excellent resources on current situation in Iraq and for peacemaking. (Quakers)
United for Peace & Justice - a new national campaign that brings together a broad range of organizations throughout the United States to help coordinate our work against a US war on Iraq. VFP is a member group of UFPJ.
The International Society for Ecology and Culture (ISEC) is a non-profit organisation concerned with the protection of both biological and cultural diversity. Our emphasis is on education for action: moving beyond single issues to look at the more fundamental influences that shape our lives.
MoveOn.org - most successful online organizing campaign. Have many initiatives going. Some are on our actions page. You can sign up on this page.
Call to Renewal - Ecumenical organization working on poverty issues. They have worked faithfully on this for decades. Site has excellent analysis. "Budgets and tax policies are, after all, moral documents."
Fellowship of Reconciliation - The FOR promotes nonviolence, justice and peace and has members from many religious and ethnic traditions. It is a part of the International Fellowship of Reconciliation (IFOR), which has affiliates in over 40 countries.
The Global Renaissance Alliance has LOTS of peace activist ideas.
Starhawk's Tangled Web. Site of popular author and activist. A powerful and encouraging voice for peace and social justice.
Electronic Iraq is a news portal on the US-Iraq crisis published by respected Middle East alternative news publishers, The Electronic Intifada (EI) and incorporating on the ground reports from veteran antiwar campaigners Voices in the Wilderness.
World Steward’s Highland Center for the Art and Science of Sustainable Culture in the heart of the Columbia River Gorge at Underwood Washington (just 50 miles away) teaches courses in stewardship learning (for example, in renewable energy). Check out their list of opportunities.

Northwest Earth Institute supports the commitment of individuals who seek to protect the Earth. NWEI's hallmark program is a series of discussion courses, developed in  Portland, and designed for self-facilitated informal discussions by small groups in a home, workplace at noon, center of faith, or other place  where people naturally gather.
