COMMODORE’S REPORT

This will be my last column as Commodore.  It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as your Commodore for the last year.  At the Change of Watch in May I will pass my flag to your new Commodore.  This is the perfect time to thank all of the people that unselfishly gave their time to serve the Squadron for the last year.  Without naming them individually they are the members of the Board of Directors and Officers who gave their time to attend meetings to help steer the Squadron.  They are the Cruise Masters who planned your sailing trips.  There are many others that help plan programs and sell our 50-50 tickets.

Make sure that you plan to attend the Change of Watch at Burnt Store Marina.  In addition to having fun you will enjoy a fine tenderloin dinner.

Happy Sailing,

Bob Grunow, Commodore

Vice Commodore's Report

The Cruise to Fisherman’s Wharf in March was a great one. Lots of wind , a major league breakfast at Smokey’s , a new water pump for one boat, a new starter motor for another, an errant wave over the stern, and we’ll all do it again.

Planning and organizing is well under way or the 2009-2010 season. We are assembling the team that will run the squadron for the upcoming season. I’m really gratified with the response we’ve been getting in filling the positions required to operate the Squadron. In lasts months column I indicated the open positions. Since then, Bill Whalen has taken on the Membership function, and Hank Evering has taken Publicity. Look for a major emphasis and a number of initiatives in both areas starting in early fall! Plan to participate in them!

WE still have the following positions that need to be filled:
Web Site Manager  (no, it doesn’t need a super technician to do it)
    Christmas Cookie Chairman
Boat Parade Leader and Committee Members.
If you want to have these functions for your Squadron, we need people to step up and volunteer to perform them.

Lastly, don’t forget to sign up for the Change of Watch over Memorial Day.
See you there,

Steve Saewert, Vice Commodore
