I am sad to inform you that my friend and a faithful crew member on my boat, Summertime, passed away from cancer on Monday, August 25, 2008.  Below is the obituary published in the Venice Herald Tribune as well as some pictures of Walt sailing.

"Walter Edward Hickson, 75, Venice, formerly of Howell, N.J., died Aug. 25, 2008.
"A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Friday (August 29th) at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Venice.
"Survivors include his wife of 19 years, Patricia; his children, Barbara Faylo of Palm Harbor, Michael of Woodside, N.Y., Robert of Newark, Del., Suzanne Liberi of Freehold, N.J., and Steven of Chicago; stepchildren Ralph Thompson of Lisbon, Maine, and Karen Garrison of Lisbon Falls, Maine; and seven grandchildren.
"Mr. Hickson moved to Venice three years ago from Howell, N.J. He was a retired construction manager.
"He was a member and treasurer of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church and a member of the Venice Sailing Squadron, and the Country Club Estates Boat and Fishing Club.
"In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Chapel Beautification Fund or the Rectors Discretionary Fund at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, 1115 Center Road, Venice, FL 34292.
