Announcements

P. Mike announced the slate of officers for the upcoming year. Bill Dudley, President; Betsy Frank, VP; Ted Lane, 2nd VP Fundraising. A vote will take place at next week's meeting.

Lou Tromantana announced Bonnie will be making a presentation on the Katrina Mission Trip at the District Conference being held in Hershey, PA, June 8, 9 & 10th. If you are planning to attend, please make your reservations as soon as possible. The Hershey Lodge releases our block of rooms on March 5th. Information can be found on the District web site. www.district7640.com. Registration information can be found on the front table at the meeting.

The Board of Directors accepted with regret, the resignation of Diana Caraballo.

The International Committee is collecting sneakers in good condition (washed and new laces) - 3 weeks left, so check your closets!

Thank you to all who participated in the Phantoms Foundation trip. It was a great game against the Hershey Bears. We had 11 "Littles" with us for the game. Our club earned $500 in Foundation credit.

"Top Duck" Betsy distributed duck brochures to all the members. See Betsy if you were not at today's meeting. Our Goal is set at 5000 Ducks. Each member was given 100 brochures. If you place brochures in a place of business, please let Linda Foster know so we can publicize where ducks can be purchased. SELL SELL SELL!

Pat received a fine along with Lou's "Happy News". Lou's son, a 12-yr. veteran of the Vineland Fire Dept., was recently sworn in as captain. Congratulations! Dennis paid a fine for the sewer approval for Dave Han-ra-han's business. Chalky paid a discounted "school fine" for a recent photo.

Today’s Program

PE Bill introduced our guest speaker, Stefanie Knapp, MD, of Eye Associates. Stefanie is a graduate of Carnegie-Mellon University and Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, Nashville, TN. She completed an internship at the University of Medicine and Denistry of NJ and her residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center located in Dallas, TX.

Stefanie spoke to us about "What's New in Ophthalmology". The causes of Cataracts was discussed along with symptoms and treatments. Cataract surgery is one of the most commonly performed procedures today. There are many different lens used depending on the vision problem. New procedures involving Laser Vision correction were also discussed.
