Approximately 180 teachers, aides and dictionaries for turnovers where distributed. Bill received many "thank you" letters from the children. He said it was a pleasure to donate the books and share in their enthusiasm.

Joe Delgado reported on the Phantoms hockey game held last week. He thanked the sponsors. We sold approx. 40 tickets. Everyone had a great time and the Phantoms won in overtime and a shootout!

P. Bill shared some Rotary history with the members. A 1955 fellowship event included a Ladies Caberet night.
Bill also encouraged members to read about Polio and the Bill Gates partnership article featured in the lastest edition of the Rotarian.

Finemaster Bill waived Ron McMahon's fine for photos for participating in the recent Polio Immunization trip to Nigeria. Karen received a fine for her invitation/solicitation.

Program

PE Betsy introduced our guest speaker, Carla Yates from the Red Cross. Members viewed a video on the history of the Amercian Red Cross. Please visit their website for a brief summary:

Ron gave some background information of Vineland Rotary's involvement with the Red Cross blood drives. Bob Swanson encouraged Ron to become an active member of the local Chapter. Ron organized our first blood drive during Charles Parrish's year as Club President in 1997. Ron read the names of Rotarians who donated at our first blood drive. Most of them are still members and have contintued to donate. We began holding two blood drives a year and most recently increased to four times per year to help with the shortage that occurs during the holidays.

Ron was presented with a plaque thanking him for his 15+ years of service to the American Red Cross.
