Flag Salute & Prayer


Marty led our singing, flag salute and 4-way Test. Cornell gave the blessing.

Announcements

Sgt. at Arms, Bruce Middleton, announced that Vineland Rotary Golf shirts are available in various sizes.
Special welcome back to Al Marsh and Ed Bernhardt. Great to see you both!
This year's Strike Out Hunger Phillies game will be held August 22nd. We will be partnering with Big Brothers Big Sisters with a bus trip to the game and pairing up with a "Little" for the night. Please sign for a "Little" so that we can take as many as possible. They are looking forward to this event. If you can't attend the game, please consider sponsering a "Little" so they don't miss out!

Gail announced that the club will being "Crusing Down the River" July 22, leaving Millville dock at 4 PM. Participants can bring alcohol if they choose to.
Also, a bus trip to NYC to see Spamalot is planned for September 15th. Bus leaves Vineland at 3 am and returns 7 pm. See Gail for tickets.

Carol Captis will be participating in the "Breast Cancer 3-day" walk in October. Please see Carol if you would like to support her in this worthy cause. Checks can be made payable to "Breast Cancer 3-Day".
Carol is taking orders for a DVD of our Katrina Mission trips. If you would like to order one, see Carol.

P. Bill read a Thank you note from Frank Zorzi, one of our RYLA students. Frank thanked Ken Dondero for sponsoring him.

Finemaster Bill

Finemaster Bill fined P. Bill for trauma due to his early arrival. Several members were fined for parking in the shade. (It was well worth the $2 fine Bill) Joe O'Rourke received a "welcome" fine; Bonnie for a "nice" fine, Bruce for the pink jacket and Joe Delgado for his Challenger meeting,

Program

PE Betsy introduced our guest speaker, Governor Jozsef deKovacs. Jozsef’s area of expertise is in Golf Course Management and Development. He attended Switzerland-Luzem College, and Cornell University graduating with a degree in Business Management and a Masters of Engineering and Golf Course Development.

Jozsef is a member of the Williamstown Rotary Club. He has served as Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President and was President of the club in 2002.
He resides in Newfield with his wife of 35 years, Alfia. Alfia has also served as President of the Williamstown Rotary and both Jozsef and Alfia are distinguished as Paul Harris Fellows. They have one daughter, Nicole, also a Paul Harris member.

Gov. Jozsef outline his goals for the coming year. He would like to see every Rotarian support the Annual Giving to the Foundation. He is currently working on updating the District Directory and asks that each club support this project with purchasing business card ads. He would like to support our youth programs and Group Study Exchange Program. GSE team exchange will be with Hungary next spring.

Governor Jozsef recently visited Hungary. They recently became their own district after reaching a total of 40 clubs. They are currently at 42 clubs. The Governor's project this year will be working with an orphanage in Hungary. To date, with our district's help, we installed water, toilets, computers a stone road leading to the village, a new roof, tables, chairs and books. His goal will be to raise $20,000, which will include matching grants, to help rebuild a shelter for abused woman that is connected to the orphanage.

Jozsef announced that the next District Conference will be held in Cape May, April 18th - 20th.

P. Bill presented Governor Jozsef with a check for $250. to help support the Hungarian School Project, a DVD of our "Rotary Year In Review and a beautiful vase from Wheaton Village.
