About me:
I was born in Tbilisi, the capital city of the Republic of Georgia. I have made kinetic sculptures and mobiles for as long as I can remember, and I hold a Ph.D. in physics and mathematics from St. Petersburg University in Russia. Working in these different areas, I have discovered what many others have noticed: that precise science and art both reflect nature in an elegant way.
I've always been fascinated with beautiful and functional objects that rely on basic principles of mechanics and geometry. My goal is to create individual pieces that are like living creatures, continually moving in slow motion and changing in space, light and color. Each mobile is made and balanced entirely by hand. I work with metals such as copper, brass, silver, and gold, as well as stained glass, seashells, agate slices, and other natural materials. Thank you for visiting my website--Vladimir Barsukov
