These trays are
made with rolled-out slab. I use the natural shapes that form
when the clay is flattened. Sometimes I rip it apart and piece it
back together. This makes interesting seams that add a subtle
texture. I vary the technique when glazing, either dripping
different colors, or using one color. Or sometimes I mask off
certain areas, creating colorful shapes in the middle. They are
very contemporary and could be a great conversation piece, while at the
same time serving carrots and dip.
