I'm not claiming that any of these stories is perfect, even though there are moments when I think some of them are. And while a story with a great plot is always something I enjoy, plot isn't at the top of my list as far as most important elements go. What I'm really looking for is solid characterization, smooth dialogue, and memorable scenes. (I've also admitted on more than one occasion to being a Hurt / Comfort - Angst - UST junkie.)

I offer no apologies for the imperfections of any of these stories. I like them all, and I'm not going to put qualifications on that. You won't find any "This is good, even though there are times when X character doesn't sound quite like himself, and there are a couple of plot holes, and..." here. Like I said, none of these stories is perfect, and some of them are less perfect than others. I'm still not sorry that I like them.

I've divided these recs into sections by fandom, even though the Jossverse is really the only fandom I've been involved with on any impressive level. In the case of crossovers between Buffy: The Vampire Slayer and Angel the Series, I've tried to put the story in whichever spot seemed to make the most sense based on the characters involved and the story line.

*Warning* - Many of these recommended stories are *slash.* This means they contain scenes with two (or more) men having graphic sex. Almost all of these stories are also rated NC-17. Many of my recommendations include quotes from the stories that include NC-17-rated material. If you are under the age of 18 and aren't supposed to be reading these things - well, you didn't hear about them from me.

*2nd Warning* - Some of the recommended stories and series are works-in-progress (WIPs) that are still being written. Others are incomplete and may never be finished. I can't justify not recommending something amazing just because it doesn't have a definitive ending. WIPs will be identified as such for those of you who prefer to avoid them. But I think you're being silly.
