Tools Required:
13mm Wrench
6mm Allen Wrench
Fingers
A little Muscle
Install Time:
5-10 Minutes for the Short Shifter
15-20 Minutes for the C6 Knob
Parts:
(1) Short Shifter
(2) M8 x 1.25 Socket Head Cap Screws
(2) Lock Washers
(2) Regular Washers
(2) M8 x 1.25 Nylon Lock Nuts
(1) C6 Shifter Knob (GM part # 10354701)
(1) Remove the stock shift knob by turning counterclockwise.
(2) Remove the shift boot by carefully lifting up on the rear while pushing towards the middle to release the tabs. ** Be careful not to break the plastic trim piece at the base of the boot. **
(3) Remove the two 13mm bolts holding the stock shaft in place and remove the shaft (Easiest if done in first gear).
(4) Position the new short shaft in place, with the side with more milled off against the left (driver) side of the shift mechanism ** See Diagram ** (Easiest if done in reverse gear).

(5) Insert the cap screws with lock washers into the shaft from the left (driver) side and thread them into the shifter mechanism (Easiest if done in reverse gear).
(6) Hold the shaft forward to account for a small amount of play, and tighten the cap screws with a 6mm Allen wrench (Easiest if done in reverse gear).
(7) Put the regular washers on the end of the cap screws and tighten the lock nuts (Easiest if done in first gear).

(8) Install the shifter boot. Make sure all the locking tabs snap into place and the trim ring doesn't sit below the edge of the console.
(9) Install the C6 shift knob.
(A) Place old shaft in a vise and tighten as tight as you can.
(B) Now the real fun begins. The C6 knob is not threaded like the F-Body Knob. With the old shaft in the vise, begin threading the C6 Knob onto it, be 100% sure you are doing this with the knob 100% straight.
(C) This will take a good bit of muscle and attention to make sure you thread the inside of the C6 knob correctly.
(D) Once you have threaded the knob all the way till you can't see the threads on the shaft anymore, removed the knob by turning counterclockwise.
(E) Thread the C6 knob onto the new short stick being careful not to cross thread it.
(F) Pull the shifter boot over the base of the knob to hide the piece where the C6 shifter boot is held onto with a button.
