The 2006 Connecticut Yankee PPG Boogies are now history, with a great time had by all!

Only time will tell if there will be future Boogies, as the airport's future is highly uncertain beyond the end if the year.

The food was great, the flying was great, and the evening bonfire was spectacular!

If you want to fly at the airport on other dates, you must check with the airport manager first, or contact a local pilot through one of the links below

Looking east from over the airport, past Clinton Harbor and Cedar Island

Driving directions:

From the west, I-95 to exit 62, south on the Hamonassett Connector to Rt. 1. East on Rt. 1, the airport is 0.6 miles on the right.

From the east, Rt. 95 to exit 63, south on Rt. 81 to Rt. 1. West on Rt. 1, the airport is 1.2 miles on the left.

From the north: I-91 to Rt 9, south on Rt. 9 to exit 9. South on Rt. 81, continue as above.

At the airport, park on the west side of the field, near the small white building with the U.S. flag. Do not block access to the field or to the hangars beyond.

The Rules: Nothing too onerous: Griswold Airport is a ppg friendly field, but there are some restrictions and areas to avoid which we all must adhere to in order to continue using this great spot. Please don't do anything that might impact the local pilot's future at the field!

  • Remember that Griswold is an active airport, with GA and ultralight activity. Airplanes have the right of way at all times!
  • Stay 100' away from the paved runway.
  • Maintain 500' over the state park south of the airport.
  • Don't fly low along the state park beach.
  • Don't fly low along the beach from Tuxis Island (about 2 miles west of the airport) to the park about a mile past that.
  • Don't fly near, or over at any altitude, the houses east of the airport (you can see one from the field, with a flagpole... the owner hates aircraft of any sort, and complains at the slightest provocation).
  • Don't fly at any altitude over the houses immediately west of the airport (should be obvious that it's a congested area per Part 103 anyway).
  • It's unlikely that you'll fly that far, but remember that the New Haven Class D airspace starts approximately 12 miles to the west (click here for aeronautical chart).
