Gensemer Family History

WARNING: For many years there was a very large amount of information recorded on this site, Will’s, Death Certificates, notes, etc. but due to the Plagiarism of the facts within my information I have been forced to remove all but the basics. I do not post any information on Ancestry, GenCircles or Rootsweb, concerning my family history but some unscrupulous people feel that it is proper genealogical ethics to use someone else’s information and notes and to then distort the same so as to be incorrect thus making it unusable to those of us truly interested in the actual historical facts.

Welcome to the Family History Page of the descendents and probable descendents of Georg Daniel Kensimer who emigrated to United States on September 20, 1738 aboard the ship Friendship with William Wallace Commander from Rotterdam, Holland, last from Dover.

Georg D. Gensemer could not spell his name, making instead his mark and his name was thereby shown as best the Captain and others could spell, thus the spelling of Kensimer.

He stayed in Philadelphia being listed in the 1752 Census in Philadelphia County, Georg Daniel Kensimer and son Joanis.

His son George Daniel traveled to Wolmelsdorf, Berks County, Pa. which is proved by land records:

On 14 Dec. 1749, Daniel Gansomyer was issued a Land Warrant by the Proprietaries (Wm. Penn's heirs) for 100 acres in what is now SW Berks Co. Pa.

On 17 Oct. 1752, Geo. Dan'l Kinsemer was issued another Land Warrant for 50 acres in the same region.

The Proprietary Returns (taxes) include:

Geo. Gensemer in 1765, George Gensemer in 1767, George Gentzmenyer in 1771, George Ginsemer in 1772, and so on.

In 1762, a George Gensemer built a two-story log house in what is now Womelsdorf, PA.  It's still there, but covered with several layers of siding, shingles, porches, gables and shutters.

This was the beginning of my main search for his descendents, which were found in all areas of the United States of America.

From here the prodigy of the families with various spellings was started. All total I have found the spellings as follows: Kensimer Gensemer Gensimer Gensomer Gensimer Gensimore Geusemer Gensermer Gensemen Gensiermer.

Today they are found in most corners of the United States of America and throughout history have been employed in every imaginable occupation, but the original families followed the occupations of farmers and tanners owning several well established tannery's in Cocalico, Adamstown and Pinegrove, Pa.

This Gensemer family has a definite link to the Gensimer / Gensimore families of Central Pa. and we are at present trying to prove this out. You can find this site at the Gensimer / Gensimore Family.

THE CLOCK
The clock of Life is wound but once
And no man has the power
To tell when the hand will stop
At a late or early hour
Now is the time that you own
Live, love, toil with a will
Place no faith in tomorrow
For the clock may then be still
