Kathy A. Halamka : Current Work
In my reconstruction of the birch panel surfaces, past and future unify with the present. With heat, water, abrasion, carbon toner photocopy transfers and charcoal on the birch plywood, I consider the nature of impermanence and continuity. The memory of the material is extrapolated as the surface transforms. Simultaneously, within the imagery I confront the stability of my own memories. These secrets in the flesh of the wood are a fleeting permanence in a transient landscape.
