Kathy A. Halamka : Current WorkIn my reconstruction of the birch panel surfaces, past and future unify with the present. With heat, water, abrasion, carbon toner photocopy transfers and charcoal on the birch plywood, I consider the nature of impermanence and continuity. The memory of the material is extrapolated as the surface transforms. Simultaneously, within the imagery I confront the stability of my own memories. These secrets in the flesh of the wood are a fleeting permanence in a transient landscape.
