The Akita Story U9

The NM Rush Akitas began as a U5 team playing for Alameda and are now a U9 team playing for NM Rush. The team plays in the Duke City Soccer League. Two players from the original U5 team remain they are Brennan and Joshua. Two additional players were added two years ago, they are Daniel and Jacob. Last year we added four more players, Jordan, Justin, Johnathan and Michael. This year we added Ryan and have one open roster spot.

Coach Kip has directed the training and growth of these players and with his direction the Akitas have always been an excellent team which has experienced incredible success.

In two years playing in NWRGSL (U5 & U6) the Akitas only lost two games by one goal each. Including the recreational tournaments played, the Akitas record during the Alameda years was 37-2-2. The Akitas played in three tournaments during those years and won all three. During the 2006 season of Duke City play the U7 Akitas went 12-4 losing four close games to older U8 teams. The Akitas participated in two tournaments during the U7 year and did not medal playing in U8 brackets.

Last season the Akitas won the Rio Vista Open, the Turkey Shoot, and the United Cup Tournaments as well as going undefeated in DCSL play. To end the year the Akitas played in the Sandia Cup and competed in the U9 bracket coming closing in several games but not medaling.

In five years (Spring 2008), the Akitas record including tournaments is 96 (wins) 25 (loses) 4 (ties). The Akitas are looking for potential players for the U10 season (Fall 2008/Spring 2009). Interested players contact coach Kip and/or attend NM Rush Tryouts on May 29th 2008.

This team is aiming at playing competitively in the DCSL for years to come and is already recognized as a top team within its age group.

Particularly in need of a goalie.

10/27/2007	Akitas U9	Tigres del Monte U10	Loss 3-1	Lost to a Taos U10 team, Akitas seems to lack energy during game.
10/28/2007	Akitas U9	NM Rush Crew U10	Loss 5-2	Akitas were up 2-1 at half and lost due to giving up 4 free kicks for goals, not good. The Crew are a strong U10 team.

Gaylord Sheppard Tournament U9 Boys Gold
11/10/2007	Akitas	Strikers Black	Loss 2-0	Difficult game to watch. Other team pressured ref into not calling off-sides. First goal was clearly off-sides, second goal could have gone either way. Akitas played them even. Tough loss.
11/10/2007	Akitas	Rio Vista Vipers	Win 4-0	Akitas dominated all facets of this game.
11/11/2007	Akitas	Rush Road Rockets	Tie 2-2	This felt like a loss. Akitas totally dominate all aspects of this game taking over 20 shots and wining every ball. Two defensive mistakes and the game was tied. The Road Rockets played some good defense packing the box.
