THE RESULTS:  1,536 COUNTED..100 SPECIES!

 

Newly sighted:  Sharp shinned hawk, common snipe, lesser yellow legs, solitary sandpiper, upland sandpiper, white throated sparrow, hermit thrush,  common throat and hooded warbler.

08-03, 04 and 05-We're at the Taste of Orland! Many came by our booth to visit with volunteers, see displays, see and hear the sights and sounds of our grassland birds, and more!

 

06-02-07 - Welcome Back Bobolinks-Get your binoculars ready.  Orland Grassland’s 750 open, contiguous acres welcome home many grassland birds in decline, endangered or threatened, including bobolinks and Henslow’s sparrows.  Take bird walks or site tours guided by experts.  Browse exhibits.  Enjoy refreshments. 01-16-07- Volunteer Meeting

 

01-16-07 - Pat Hayes presented an exciting new youth outreach proposal  "Passport to Discover Nature" on behalf of the Chicago Wilderness Grassroots Youth Outreach Committee to the Chicago Wilderness Education Team in Chicago.  It will be introduced at the Wild Things conference.  Watch here for more details!

 

01-15-07 - Interfaith Youth Core - Pat Hayes participated in the MLK Community Listening Project for this teen aged, interfaith youth group, a pilot project of Search Institute and Interfaith Youth Core, supported by Learn and Serve America and hosted by DePaul University --

 

11-18-06 - Site Seeding Event and Pot-pourri Harvest Celebration-9:00 at 167th Street parking lot..Soups, breads and other pot luck feasts afterward in The Gateway (12:30)-
