Before Restoration Painting After Options What does 442 mean? Engine Performance Spindle Conversion

This page is dedicated to my 1972 Oldsmobile 442. It is based on the Cutlass S model with option code W-29. W-29 was the 442 Appearance and Handling Package. In 1972 the 442 lost it's model status as it had been from 1968 to 1971. This marked the end of the Muscle Car era.

The color is called Sunfire Yellow. This was GM color code 56. It was the only year Oldsmobile offered this color. The stripes are painted on with exception of the hood. The hood stripe was part of the W-29 option, which was a decal.

New Pics! The bright headlights have been replaced with a dual 4 inch ram air setup. The trumpets are spun aluminum. The roll cage is a 4-point bar that is bolted in. The full interior is still intact, the rear bars bolt all the into the rear subframe support. The CD player uses an original Olds 8-track housing.
