Fun on the lake
Lake St. Clair

As snowmobilers we spend a lot of money on our sleds, trailers and gear. When it comes time to ride we dump even more money on lodging, gas and food. Lets face it, snowmobiling can be very expensive. Even if you have the money finding time away from work, chores and other ties is yet another hurdle to leap. What some people don't realize is there are other alternatives right around the corner.
Just one alternative near my homestead is on the ice. This has been going one since I was a little kid. The number of snowmobiles, ATV's and dirt bikes in this area are growing every year. It is located on the ice in Fair Haven of St. Clair County Michigan just off the DNR boat launch. Some say this area is one of the first places on the lake to freeze because it is shallow and possesses all of mother natures elements needed to freeze the water and make thick ice.
All my experiences here have been great. You can do some great recreational sledding, pull the kids on their sled, ice skate, ice fishing, snowmobile ice racing and much more. It is much like Tip Up Town USA in Houghton Lake Michigan. You will see Hot dog stands, drag racing strip, circle racing, bathrooms, DNR officers and a lot more.
If you can't make it up north or if you have limited time I would have to suggest finding the alternative. It could be a lot of fun.
