E-Mail From Sandy Hargrove I'm sorry I didn't answer you right away. It gets harder and harder to find time to get on the computer. Anything you write about Joseph will be fine with the family. If it wasn't for Ralph and his book we wouldn't even be having this conversation. Ralph started it all and I think he is wonderful. About twenty years had gone by with Joseph being mssing with no word from the government at all. Then one day a girlfriend of my daughters told my daughter of an article in Popular Science that her dad had read and it mentioned DNA and the name Joseph Hargrove. After years of the world forgetting that he was still missing somebody cared. My daughter bought the magazine and told me I had to be home when I read it because it would upset me. We were planning a trip to North Carolina in about three weeks for a wedding. So once I read the article I went out and bought all the Popular Science magazines I could find of that month. I took them to Carolina with me and gave them out to Josephs brothers and sisters. That was how they began to find out what really happened to Joseph. The government and GERALD FORD expecially would like to pretent that there was no Joseph Hargrove. A woman would be arrested for murdering their child but for Gerald Ford it was okay. He will never stand trial nor will Henry Kissinger. But the two of them together said to leave the three men there so the world would never know how incompetent they were. They fought eachother for power while Joseph and Danny and Gary fought for their life. I don't hate them but it is so close maybe I do. Joseph was not a speck on their blotter. He was Joseph Nelson Hargrove from Duplin County North Carolina. He was in the middle of Charlotte and Rudolph Hargroves nine children. He was the brother of Lane Kornegay Hargrove who was killed in Viet Nam on April 21st 1968.I will never go away or forget until I die. Anybody who wants to listen I will tell. If they listen to me more than some I tell them to go buy the Last Battle. That book came about once I contacted the magazine and eventually got to email Wonderful Ralph. He said he was on a story and he was booted off the helo that he was on by then President Bush. When he went into the hanger to wait for a ride back he got talking to some Marines. They said if you want to write a story write about the three marines that were left behind on Koh Tang. Ralph went with JTF eventually to see if there was a story there. He said when he stepped of the helo some twenty years later the island still looked as it did then. The parts of the helos were still there and bullet hole were still in the trees. Now here is something strange to me. When Ralph came back he said "We got them". But he was eventually told he brought back non human reamains. But my son Doug has a friend whos cousin is Admiral Zinni who is retired. We gave them Ralphs book to give this man. He was looking into it before this war broke out. But he said the little bit that he looked into he said the remains of the three soldiers are in Hawaii. Now here we go with govenment again. I am proud to be an American. But they really can't play with people the way they do. We are not chess pawns. So more than likely my mother in law Charlotte Hargrove will go to her grave not knowing where her son is. She is such a strong wonderful lady. When her son Lane was killed we were told on April 21st that he was wounded but he was wounded on April 19th. By the time the told us he was dead. But the day after they came out to tell her she lost her son she got a letter from him. I can't even imagine any of what she has gone through. And now her oldest child who was her rock just died from cancer. But she has strong faith and goes on. She has been on medication since Lane died and I know that helps her get through the dark hours. Here are some things that I have. The one picture is of Josephs brother Lane Hargrove who was killed in Viet Nam on April 21st 1968. The letter is from Josephs commanding officer telling Mrs. Hargrove the lie that they looked for Joseph and Danny and Gary. Joseph was an easy going guy. Never liked school very much but did like people. All these years later with hope after hope fading I remember Joseph every time I hear a funny name. We had a contest on remembering strange names. It was just between Joseph his brother Doug and I so it never hurt anyone. Josephs older sister Sandra died from lung cancer Dec 18th of last year. She was a very strong part in holding the family together always. Ralph Wetterhan wrote the book the Last Battle about ten years ago. Up until that time the government told us NOTHING about what happened to Joseph. Someone told my daughter about the article that was written in Popular Science. From that I contacted the magazine and they put I can keep on and on. Bitter but moving Sandy Hargrove |
