Great regular season team!!! Go get em in the playoffs! Wish I could be there!
Game #11 vrs Garden City (Beverly) was played at Pine Hill in Lynn before another good crowd of fans. There were wives, parents, girlfriends, friends, children and of course Richard Silva! "Scooter" is going hot and heavy after the Ripken award as he has been at EVERY Crusader game this year. The fans were not disappointed as they saw a wonderful game between Garden City and South Church and South won the game 26-14. Garden City is a young team to the league and show great promise, as they made good plays on the field and had some great at bats. They are also a friendly church who had smiles and good wishes throughout the game.
Home runs were hit! Also, some corrections were pointed out from last week where some homers were left off.. oops and a "aw shucks" to the scorekeepers. We are not perfect, not a one of us! Hitting home runs in game 11 were Derek Gomes, Justin Nascimento. And, just for the record, first baseman Cody Raponi had TWO home runs and SIX RBI's.. way to go Cody!! I guess when your parental units are in the audience you try a bit harder, ey? A warm Crusader 'hello' to Mary and Vinnie, it was great of you to come out and watch.
Other fans in attendance were Joanne and Robert Carr (cheering on Patrick and Katie), Dianne and Elizabeth (who cheered on Frank and Wayne Grout) Debbie Grout (cheering on Bruce), Priscilla Grout (cherring on Justin), Tricia and Lilly (cherring on Chris). I apologize for anyone I may have left off the list and I know that you are all cheering on Crusaders, but you also all have your own special player to cheer for!
A welcome return to Shanelle D'alfonso, who flashed some good leather on the field and contributed with a hit and an RBI. No easy outs in this lineup folks! Patrick pitched a gem of a game and was relieved by the Crusader closer Bruce. The Crusaders tied their previous record of wins in a season with 5 and will look forward to trying to set a new record next week at Mattos against a very tough Ipswich team, last year's champions. The game is at 8 p.m. and will be played under the lights. There is plenty of parking and a playground by the field for the kids, so come on out and cheer on the Crusaders!
Check your leaderboard for current leaders and the stats page for the current statistics. I reserve the right to be wrong on things and look forward to hearing the corrections.
