Game #2

God has a way of humbling us all and so it was with Game #2 for the Crusaders. The bright spots were that the weather was sunny and we had 3 more players and 1 more fan in attendance! Also, Priscilla Grout learned how to keep a scorebook and will be helping with the duties as time allows. Fan Club Co-President Richard “Scooter” Silva continued his diligence in watching the Crusaders play. The Crusaders fell to powerhouse North Shore Community Baptist by a score of 19-5. The game was closer than the score indicates as some fielding mishaps led to many runs for the Baptists. The Crusaders are still working out the kinks and getting into the groove! New players, Cornwellians brought to us by Ben Black (advance talent scout for the Crusaders) were Mike Beahm, Matt Lear and John Entner. Welcome to the group guys! Also in attendance, braving the cool breezes, was John’s wife Katie. It was great having you there, huddled under your blanket Katie!Highlights of the game included Derek Gomes squashing his nickname of “2K’ with a tremendous homerun that netted him 2 RBI’s. We also got to see the return of his electric blue shoes. Come to a game to see these babies shine! Cody Raponi is playing a solid first base, taking over for aging superstar Craig Stevens. Louie Logan and Frank Grout are almost there as a 2B/SS combo and Justin Nascimento looks like a natural at 3rd. The Crusaders are still looking for players, come one come all. You provide the spirt, we will provide the Twizzlers and gum.

Our next game is Monday, May 25 at our home field of CBD. Game begins at 6:15 p.m. and should be a good one. We are playing Boxford Congregation/Free Christian. We hope to see many of you there!
