Game #5

The Crusaders did not win the softball game on Monday, but we did win some more fans, both on our side of the field as well as the Hamilton side. Steve DiNapoli, coach of Hamiliton Congregational, wanted me to pass on his thanks for our good sportmanship and general craziness which has become the trademark of Crusader softball. We had more fans turn out for our game, some of them first timers! Next game is Monday, June 15 at Mattos in Gloucester. Hopefully the fans will continue to show--BRING BUG SPRAY, THEY ARE OUT!!

We had 13 Crusaders there. Considering last year we forfeited a number of games because of lack of players, this is a tremendous thing!  Thanks be to God for putting it into the players hearts to come out and have some fun. We have some groups within our group that have stepped to the front. The current 3 Amigos of Derek, Cody and Louie are all contenders for the Ripken Award. We also have the revolving bunch of Conwellians (sp?) whom Ben has recruited. Unsung hero of the bunch, John Entner has shown some flash of leather at third base. We also have the Carr Contingency of Patrick, Katie and Nick all of whom are fitting in nicely. Special thanks to JoAnn Carr for keeping the scorebook and allowing Sandy to take more pictures than ever. Bruce Grout has moved nicely into the bullpen to become the Pap of the Crusaders and Justin is having as much fun playing as we are having watching him. Richard "Scooter" Silva is also in contention for the Ripken, as is his 'horn of plenty' noisemaker. Missing from the crowd was the youngest of the Crusader fans, Lily. I'm still learning all the names and faces of our fans! This is a blessing I gladly take!

As usual, there will be a caravan leaving for Gloucester this Monday night, promptly at 5:30 from the South Church parking lot. See me on Sunday or email me or cell call if you need/want to be a part of the caravan. Invite your friends and family to come be a part of Crusader Softball! Also, plans are afoot for a special announcement in church on Sunday, June 21 for the softball game. As many Crusaders as possible are invited to come to the church that day, wearing your tshirts, to invite the church out to see the game on Monday, June 21. Talk to me about the details!!
