Game #8

The Crusaders played flawless defense and scored 2 runs in 6 innings of work last night at Mattos Field against tough Lanesville, who also scored 2 runs. Unfortunately, softball is played for 7 innings. In the top of the 7th, South Church made some mental lapses that allowed Lanesville to score 6 times and come away with an 8-2 victory. The team played great and the fellowship between the 2 churches exemplified what Christian sportsmanship is all about.

Best and brightest at the game, aside from the weather clearing, was the amount of Crusaders that showed up both to play and to watch. Richard Silva continued his quest to become the first fan to ever capture "The Ripken" as he showed up to his 8th game of the season. Also on hand were wives of players, parents of players and sons/daughters of players. We saw the youngest Crusader fan put in an appearance, both on the sidelines and during the prayer at home plate (YAY Lilly!!). During said prayer, Carla Logan was lifted up to the Lord and thanks was given that He welcomed her to the mansion He had made for her. Good to see Rob Carr there to cheer on Katie and Patrick, as well as an appearance by Joshua Grout, joining his Aunt Priscilla. I know I'm missing some names as I'm still learning you all. It's a nice burden to have to bear! Joann Carr was there, as was Mrs. Allen and Mrs. Entner. I apologize for not having your first names, you may beat me. I'm hoping that the Crusaders can learn whatever language John Entner is using during the games. We can't understand a word!

I've posted the new stats sheet, as well as a new section called "The Leader Board." Any game issues should be sent to my own email (rwsherrick@yahoo.com) as it gets checked daily and responses are much quicker. Reminders: Game decisions (are we playing?) are usually made at gametime at the gamesite. If one team has enough players to play and the other does not...a forfeit can usually occur. Please don't put us in that position! If you cannot or do not want to play, please come anyways. We want you there for fellowship and socializing. If you can't play, but want to be involved, we can use base coaches or you can learn to fill out the playbook. If you don't want to play, or want out of the game or a different position, please tell Ralph or Bruce and we can make it happen! The snack table is not for players only! Fans, kids wandering by and brothers/sisters on the other team are MORE THAN WELCOME to 'eat at our table.' Contributions (money or snack wise) are more than welcome to be added.

I look forward to our next game. It's a local one at Castle Hill in Salem against St. Peter's church. We should have some fans there and it's a great field to play on, as long as it doesn't rain. *sigh*... GO CRUSADERS!! (WOOT! WOOT!)
