Summer 2007 ( July - September )

9/29/2007 - Well, I've been having quite a bit of fun in SNKVNNM this past summer. Taking the car around to either the Rock House Sports Bar in Livermore, Baji's Cafe in Mountain View, and Santana Row, in San Jose. The car has been a blast with the Koni's in place. I still need to have a good alignment job done once I've put about 1,000 miles on the Koni setup. Probably later this year.

The Santana Row gathering is a bit unique in the fact that the cars gathered here are more exotic; not just Cobra's or GT's. In fact, on any given Saturday, I tend to be the only Cobra out there among a sea of Ferrari F430's, Laborghini Gallardo's, Porsche GT# (I lose track of the last digit or letter!), BMW M cars, and everything in between. Below are just a sampling of what you'll see there:

Also in September was "Northern California Kit Car Club" annual show at the San Leandro Marina. A good contingent of Factory Five people were on hand either entering their cars or just to show support the kit car industry. On hand was a polished Kirkham which won Best of Show, , Curtis Tungs FFR Roadster that won the previous year, won the Cobra Class E with Ed Robinson in his FFR Roadster taking 2nd. Russ Thompson's FFR Roadster was on hand this year - the alternator malfucntioned on his Coupe so it didn't make it out this year. Dave Borden's GTM which drew a really large crowd and took 3rd in the Sports A Class! A great lunch with a great bunch of guy's at El Torito's topped off the afternoon. Here's a link to the NCKCC 2007 show:

In the middle of September, the 'Bay Area Cobra Club' or BACC held it's 3rd annual "End of The Summer" event which started at Alices Restaurant at the intersection of Hwy 84 (Woodside) and Hwy 35 (Skyline.) The day was a perfect 65 deg. as 29 Cobras and a Mustang GT350 drove along miles of Hwy 35 heading south into Scotts Valley where we met at Canepa Designs where we were given a 2 hour tour of an amazing restoration, sales and maintenance facilitly of some vintage race cars and some truely amamzing late model vehicles that you simply have to see to appreciate for what this facility does. While I forgot my camera of all days, this JPG from their site will give you an idea of some of the cars that were on displays:

We ended the day at Heavenly Cafe for lunch. I can't wait for next year to see where we go next.

The following week, I attended a small car show held by Cisco Systems in San Jose, CA. While I'm not an official employee of Cisco, I am a contractor and still entered my Factory Five Roadster. Among some of the field was a Stillen signature Lexus GS350 with supercharger, a Lamborghini Gallardo, a GTX w/440-six pack, a DeLorean, a Ford Fire Truck (!), a BMW 2002tii fully restored, a Dodege Viper, and a Ferrari 308GTB just to name a few. While I didn't win anything, it was great to just relax and see the machinery of some of Cisco's employee's.

Towards the end of September, I decided to order a replacement windshield glass. It's been a distration on every ride this year and feel it's time to get it taken care of. Overall, this September of 2007 will go down as a most memorable one for me.
