2nd Squad Living
History Group was formed out of a desire for authenticity within the
WW2 reenacting community. Our unit was formally started in 2002 and
since then we have slowly gained notoriety within 20th
century reenacting community as the premier World War II Living
History Group.
We are an authentic /
progressive group of living historians. Unlike most mainstream WW2
re-enactors, we focus on extreme research in all aspects of the
1940’s soldier. Small details are our specialty, whether it’s
correct t-shirts, undergarments, uniforms, 1940’s speech, etc.
While some may call us stitch counters, our quest for authenticity
is what unifies us as a group. To do anything less would be an
insult to the veterans of World War II.
We portray the common “dogface”
soldier of WW2. Typically, for most events we do a campaign
impression, meaning that we are filthy and have a generally unkempt
appearance. We carry what we can on our backs. By doing so we
can give the public another perspective of the WW2 soldier that is
not commonly represented within the hobby.
2nd Squad has been asked to
participate in events for schools, The National Park Service,
museums, libraries, and National Public Television
Many of us became interested in
World War two because we had a relative that participated in the
war. Some are drawn to the nostalgia.
2nd Squad would like to thank
every member of the Greatest Generation for the sacrifices they made
in order to ensure our freedom today! |
