In March of 2000 I had a rare opportunity to hike on Lafferty Ranch to the top of Sonoma
Mountain. It was a hazy day, so I didn't get any nice long-distance views from the top of
the mountain, but I did get this dream-like image of a grassy meadow on Lafferty Ranch.

Above left: This photo was taken about 20 years ago while out with my family in the desert west of Palm Springs. I turned around and saw my nephew Jon and his cousin Kim running toward me on the railroad tracks. I instinctively snapped the shutter and got this image. Above right: My wife Edy pretends she's a tropical fish in this underwater photo taken while we were snorkeling off the west coast of Maui in 1997.

I took this photo of the San Juan Mountains between Durango and Silverton, Colo. on a summer afternoon in 1998. It looks like a painting and is reminiscent of a scene from "The Sound of Music."

Goblin Valley, Utah is a little-known state park about six miles off
the main road that gets few visitors. It is a vast sandstone bowl
filled with stone shapes reminiscent of demons or goblins.

A creek flowing through Tahquitz Canyon is surrounded
by colorful brush. This Indian canyon on the edge of
Palm Springs, Calif. was recently reopened to
the public after more than 30 years.
