Summer Camp

Troop 95 attends a week-long summer camp at Camp Wah-tut-ca, in Northwood, NH, every July.  In 2006 the cost for the camp was about $250.  In the event of financial hardship, camperships are available.  The camp runs Sunday afternoon through Friday evening.  The camp offers numerous opportunities for the boys to work on advancement, merit badges, and generally enjoy fun activities.  Activities include archery, rifle shooting, swimming, sailing, nature studies, etc.  The boys sleep on tent-covered wooden platforms.   (Mosquito netting is essential!)  During the week the boys eat meals in a dining hall, taking turns to help serve food and clean up.  One night during the week, the troop orders pizza ($5 extra) and eats at the camp site.  There are nightly camp-fire activities where the camp counselors (older scouts) lead the boys in skits and songs.  There are opportunities for older scouts to work at the camp and earn service hours for advancement badges.  The camp has a trading post where T-shirts, scouting items (flashlights, etc.), candy, ice cream and drinks are available.  A group photo is taken of every troop (cost is about $8).  Parents are welcome to stay all or part of the week.  Both boys and adults staying overnight (except for the last Friday) will need to provide up-to-date medical forms.
