About these books...

Chesley Bonestell (1888-1986) is often called the father of modern space art. Between 1949 and 1974, his stunning artwork was the centerpiece of 12 books, all but one of which dealt with astronomy or spaceflight. The paintings in these books, especially the early ones, helped convince a skeptical age that manned spaceflight was indeed possible. Thanks to Bonestell, the Moon and planets suddenly seemed real and attainable. To view this very influential Bookshelf, just click on the Photos tab.
