The nickel sized hole in the firewall should be stamped out, not drilled. 
It comes through the firewall about 8 – 10” southwest of the master cylinder (almost directly back from the accelerator linkage.)

STEERING and SUSPENSION

HCC-AX is the special manual steering box standard on the GT Mustangs and cars with heavy duty suspension.
Special Box ratio is 16:1
add the stock Pitman and idler arms and the ratio becomes 22:1
add the Shelby American Pitman and idler arms and the ratio becomes 19:1

EXHAUST and BODY IDENTIFICATION

Dual straight-through exhaust system with re-enforced brackets under the back seat.

Brace
Metal brace, inside the rear frame.  This brace was there to keep the box frame from collapsing when you bolted on the dual exhaust systems.  All true factory GT's (whether K code or not) will have this brace.  You can feel it by placing your finger in the frame hole and pointing aft - you will feel in inside.
