What follows is just a compilation of what I see in the front fenders I own. This all started when I noticed a difference in the length of the crease that runs the length of the fender.
This is a picture of the fender that started it all. There was some damage in the front that caused a small buckle across the crease line at the rear edge of the crease. I am guessing where the crease ends. This fender has a very clear M on the inner lip and is the only fender I have with the M. Keep in mind at least two of my fenders could have the M lost to rust if they ever had an M.
It also has a bolt at the 90* bend.
Here is what a long crease fender looks like.
Notice how there is a hole on the 90* bend and this is for a bolt in splash apron. The crease is fairly substantial on these fenders when compared to the shorter crease.
This is another long crease fender I have. It is for a bolt on splash apron, which I am assuming means 31. On this fender there is NO hole on the 90* bend. A little side note, it is not that bad a fender other than the rust on the end.
This is a 30 welded splash apron fender with a long crease.
Notice that the 30 fender has a folded over edge along the engine compartment area.
This is another short crease fender. This is a factory wheel well. On the running board end you see the 3 holes for the bolts. There is the larger hole which seems to be common to all short crease fenders. I do not know what the hole is for and it is not on the 30 fender or the long crease fenders.
Well that sums up what I have noticed. I do not know what it all means. I am only sure I have many hours of body work ahead to try and make better the decent fenders I have.
