Help!

Where do I start? What kind of lighting do I need? Is this fish reef-safe? Why do I have this algae in my tank? What IS this thing? When Don & I started reefing, there really was no internet to speak of. Home PC's were pretty much unheard of.
Good literature was hard to find. We were basically stuck with the advice of the local fish-store, and trial and error.
Here, I hope to outline a few of the best places to get help online - the best forums, and other helpful sites.

Online Forums

Reef Sanctuary I was finally able to realize my dream of owning and creating an online reef forum. The site is small, but growing rapidly. It was started in November of 2003, and is the 'home' of hundreds of experienced and helpful 'reefers'. ReefSanctuary also contains an excellent research section.

Aquarium Advice Another great SW & reef online forum.
Also includes freshwater forums.

ReefCentral Probably the largest online reefing forum. In my experience, not the "friendliest", but worth a stop to use the search function if you're totally stumped.

Hitchhiker FAQ for the Reef Aquarist	Priceless. Almost all hitchhiker's can be ID'd using this site.
Odd Critters - by Dr. Ronald L. Shimek, Ph.D.	A great ID place for the little less common. Comb jellies, hydroids, limpets, and more.
Rogue's Gallery - Dr. Ronald L. Shimek, Ph.D.	The "dangerous" (or at least pesky) stuff. Aiptasia, Mantis, flatworms and more.
The Key to it all...A Dichotomous Key to The Animals Likely to Be Found in a Coral Reef Aquarium Live Sand Bed .	A great key to almost all live organisms that can be found in a DSB.
ReefImages.com	Simply one of the best photo ID sites in existence.
Aquarium Arts - Reef Invertebrates & Fish	Picture ID of some of the more common reef inhabitants - common names included.
The John Rice Reef Page	Can't find it? Try here. This guy has a great page, and lots of pictures of inverts, oddities, algae, etc.
