This page contains pictures of the soft corals and gorgonians in the tank.  We don't have many softies left; having recently converted the tank to an "sps tank".  Some of the soft corals now reside in our inline 40g frag tank for propagation.  The gorgonians are still in the display tank.

Xenia elongata

When we had this coral in the 75g, it grew like wildfire.  In the 180g, with a basically nutrient-free system, it grows much more slowly, and is now confined to a small patch on the back glass.

I often waiver in the ID of this coral as Sinularia sp.  If you can provide a positive ID, please  email me

This is actually a very beautiful coral, but we could not control its growth under the MH's.  At the time it was relocated to the frag tank, it was about 6" around, and 10" tall.  This coral has been fragged many times, aand is still growing strong.

Gorgonian ~ Eunicea sp.

This gorgonian definitely loves light.  It has grown tremendously since being placed under MH's.  It also seems to definitely appreciate phytoplankton additions to the tank.

Colt Coral

Another coral that likes to grow out of control under the MH's.
It's been fragged and "pruned" several times over.

This picture doesn't do this frag justice, it flouresces a wild lime green under actinic lighting.
