My friend Charles said he wished he had gotten a shot on video of a recent lunar eclipse. I said "let's fake it". This animation shows the final result as the Earth's Moon slips into shadow.

This ominous image heralds the arrival of evil beings from beyond the veil. Knocked out in a couple of hours, the moon is a simple sphere with an image map. To create the lighting, two lights, each with their own color 'gels' were added to the scene and animated to sweep downward.

The final clip was rendered out at DV NTSC resolution (with 0.9 ratio pixels) then converted to a DV stream with Quicktime Pro. That file was opened in iMovie for editing. There are stars in the background, but after compression for web delivery, they aren't really visible.
