Seger Crew

The Seger crew came in from North Pickenham on SO 120 dtd 20 August 1944.  In the daylight group they had been a replacement crew and had three missions before coming to Harrington.  On their last mission at North Pick they lost their Bombardier, Andrew Todaro (WIA) and so reported to Harrington short an officer and long on EMs.  Todaro was replaced by Henry Colyer who had been at North Pick and reported in to Station 179 the day following the Seger crew.

Names are not matched on the back of the picture but are identified by MOS as:

Pilot                -    Stanley A. Seger
Copilot              -    George J. Carter
Navigator            -    Ralph Mack
Bombardier           -    Andrew Todaro
Engineer             -    Robert F. Marvel
Radio Operator       -    John D. Craig
BTG Gunner           -    Earl V. Wood
Tail Gunner          -    Stanley B. Richardson
Alt Engineer         -    Leon Yates
Nose Gunner          -    Gordon J. Gillette

At Harrington, Wood served as Dispatcher.

In the short time remaining to them before operations slowed the men got in the following MRs:

Seger        -    8
Carter       -    8
Mack         -    8
Colyer       -    8
Richardson   -    0
Yates        -    2
Beaman       -    8
Marvel       -    8
Wood         -    5

Unlike many of the earlier crews, the Seger crew had no men who took orientation missions.  This may have been due to the fact that
a great deal of personnel turnover at Harrington was occurring at the time.  On the night of 10/11 September 1944 they transported
and dropped Jedburgh Team Douglas II to the Bob 200 DZ in eastern France.

Preferred aircraft: B24D 42-63788 (3 out of 8)

Later period: Stranded like many other crews at Harrington by the closure of the containers and agents into Western Europe, it is unknown how or when they finished their tour.

Aircraft Details: Tom Brittan
