857th/858th BS

Dupree Crew

The Dupree crew arrived at Harrington on the 20th of September 1944 on Special Orders issued from Hq Station 238 (dtd 15 Sep '44).  Sent in as replacements for the original 850th/857th BS crews, they were too late to fly any Carpetbagger missions though their flights recorded (2) in September of '44 were most probably
gas-haul missions.  In December of 1944, Dupree flew two missions recorded in the Operations Log, but their purpose is unknown.  On 9 March 1945, they were transferred to the 858th BS whence we lose sight of them, being able to say only that they were apparently not at Harrington on 8-9 July 1945, when most of the flyers returned to the ZI.
