857th BS
Sam N. Webb Crew
Scanned from Special Orders #192, Station 179, dtd 28 Oct 1944
The crew arrived from the 70th Replacement Depot in late October, being assigned to the 857th BS on arrival. From the Operations Log it doesn't appear they flew a combat mission until the night of 27/28 December 1944, and then not again until 21/22 February 1945. Webb then appears only five more times in the Ops Log until being assigned to "Mosquito Transition Training" at Watton with the 25th BG at the end of March 1945. We know not whether his men flew any more combat missions, but Webb himself piloted Mosquito missions four times in April 1945, before disappearing from Harrington records.
