B24D 42-63980 "Playmate" aka "Missouri Mauler"

She first saw combat with the 389th BG out of Hethel in 1943.  Converted to Carpetbagger specs in 1944, the plane gave the 406th/858th BS plenty of service, traveling to the Pacific Theater on orders from Washington to demonstrate OSS methods.  The Pilot, Bestow Rudolph, took his camera and used it well, leaving posterity an interesting assortment of pictures taken on the other side of the world from the ETO. Shown here at Myitkina, Burma with crew chief Willis L. Delano left and Charles W. McGuire, Navigator right.  For the tour of 60 days the aircraft logged some 25,000 miles.
