Reverse Glow GaugesWhat are these? These are just gauges that are lit from behind like the regular insturment cluster, but can be a different color than your stock green. The type I installed are overlays. Overlays are just what they sound like: they lay over your stock gauges. Are they easy to install? If you are mechanically inclined and have some creative ability (for routing the wires and the control knob), then this is a piece of cake! Is there anything I need to watch out for?The only thing that kept tripping me up was in cool tempatures (like in the morning), the needles stick. This is due to one of two things: 1. The overlay doesn't lay flat against the insturment cluster, or 2. The overlay is not centered correctly. Now, I know my overlays lay flat due to using some gasket maker as two sided tape, but I forgot to make sure they were centered. One of these days I'll need to remove it, clean it off, and re-install them correctly. I think this time I'll use some electrical tape on the edges to hold the overlay in place to make sure they stay centered. |
