Lt.Col Donald R. Patterson

Lt. Col. Donald R. Patterson was Batallion Commander of the 331st Infantry, 2nd Bn, 83rd Division from July 27, 1944 to September 19, 1944.  Hospitalized with dysentery on September 20 to October 17, 1944.  Was placed into replacement pool from October 18, to April 7, 1945 filling in for those officers killed or wounded.  Returned to the 83rd Division on April 8, 1945 to the end of hostilities.  Was present when Buchenwald was liberated.  On November 29, 1945 he was assigned as Regimental Officer 8th Infantry.  In June 1946 transferred to Regimental Officer of 25th Infantry.  September 30 TDY to International Military Tribunal and managed the famous Grand Hotel in Nurenberg housing the Legal Council for the War Crimes Trials.  In 1949, he was Batallion Commander and Training Officer for the 2nd Armored Division.  In 1951 he retired and settled in Augusta, Georgia.  In 1982 he was deceased.
