Release
The
perfect sleep of eternity
Is the gift I gave my feline friend.
My hand upon his velvet head,
Thru years of memories I wend.
How could I see his pain yet dread
To let his loving heart go free?
I wish him peace and happy scenes,
Now that he lives among my dreams.
But Lord!
If I could stroke once more
That silken coat
Or he release me, as I did him -
Then heart and mind, in pain
afloat-
Could
rest in peace, no more at war,
My fur clad love, at heaven's door,
Waiting.
