1.  Soldier's Blindfold

At a local tavern in Bandar Eban, four girls were surrounding a blindfolded handsome stranger. They decide to play a silly Altaran kissing game, each girl in turn giving the soldier a kiss on the lips. When the soldier’s blindfold was removed, he could not figure out which girl gave which kiss. Hopeless at figuring out who the best kisser was, the soldier then turned to a blushing Accepted. The woman glared at the group of four girls for playing such a nonsensical game, but felt sorry for the soldier. She whispered to him several clues, and the soldier immediately found out the ‘cupcake’ was daring enough to give him a ‘slip of the tongue’.

1. The girl with the silk gown went first.
2. The Illianer smelled of pumpkin spices.
3. The Ebou Dari did not want to kiss the soldier right after the Saldaean, and she did not kiss him before her.
4. The girl with the riding skirts kissed the soldier immediately after the girl who smelled like vanilla cupcake.
5. The girl who smelled of fresh linen went last.
6. The girl who smelled of roses was Saldaean.
7. The Andoran did not wear a flowing skirt and she was rather shy, kissing the soldier last.
8. The girl who wore a satin dress went after the girl from Illian.

2.  The Domani Wench's Fingers

A young Accepted was walking through the streets of Lugard. She knew very well that this city is filled with ruffians, bandits, and swindlers and was mindful of that fact. As she walked by The Domani Wench’s Kiss Inn, she spotted a man dressed in raggedy clothing playing a game in the midst of the crowd. Curiosity got the better of the Accepted and she pressed towards the crowd to see what the game was. She found out that they were playing a simple two-player finger game called Arrom. Each player displays either one or two fingers and at the same time tries to guess what the other player will choose. If both are wrong or both are right, then neither wins. If only one person is right, then that person wins a number of golden crowns equal to the total number of fingers shown by both players (2, 3, or 4).

The Accepted smirks at the game as she realizes very quickly how the man is conning money from his unsuspecting victims. She walks up to the swindler, and uses his own strategy to beat him at his own game. What was the strategy the Accepted figured out?

3.  The Retired Sheep Farmer

A retired sheep farmer from Emond’s Field decided to have a new house built for himself in the village. However, when he entered his new home, he realized that the carpenter forgot something. The farmer was rather self-reliant and decided to finish the farm himself. He walked over to the local blacksmith to buy the forgotten item. The smith, curiously named Smith, flashed him a tooth-less smile and told the farmer the prices: 8 will cost one crown, 15 will cost 2 crown, and 100 will cost 3 crown. The farmer smiled and agreed, as they were rather reasonable and ended up buying 235, for which he paid 3 crowns.

What did the carpenter forget to put on the house?

Age is but a Number

Anila, Blissa, Corie, Darla, and Evie recently found out that all of their birthdays were on the same day, though they are different ages. On their mutual birthday, they were jabbering away, flapping their gums about their recent discovery. Some of the things that were overheard was:

• Darla said to Blissa: "I'm nine years older than Evie."
• Evie said to Blissa: "I'm seven years older than Anila."
• Anila said to Blissa: "Your age is exactly 70% greater than mine."
• Blissa said to Corie: "Evie is younger than you."
• Corie said to Darla: "The difference between our ages is six years."
• Corie said to Anila: "I'm ten years older than you."
• Corie said to Anila: "Blissa is younger than Darla."
• Blissa said to Corie: "The difference between your age and Darla's is the same as the difference between Darla's and Evie's."
The women were not all telling the whole truth. When one of them spoke to somebody older than herself, everything she said was true, but when speaking to somebody younger, everything she said was false.

How old is each person?

An ongoing task available to you all is that of presenting a debate. The art of debating is an invaluable skill as it teaches calm assessment and how to present an argument, as well as an ability to identify and root out flaws in a proposition.

Simply submit your proposal and the position you and your debating partner will be taking for approval to the White Ajah mailbox. If you need assistance with how to structure or prepare then simply contact me or another White and we can guide you

Many of you have varying opinions and discussions on a range of topics. However, if you are having difficulties, below are a series of suggestions put forward by Accepted Callemaea, you may use these directly or adapt them as you wish.

Proposition 1: "It is better for the person who plans the strategy of the battle to have another lead, than for the same person to both lead the group and plan the battle."

Proposition 2: "A warrior who is reliable in following orders but has only a basic understanding of battle is a greater asset to a group than a person who has excellent skills but only follows orders about half the time."

Proposition 3: "In some circumstances, even if the laws of a given nation are unjust, the right action for some individuals placed in authority in that nation MAY be to continue in that position and even to reliably enforce these laws."

Proposition 4: "If someone in authority within a nation is accused of abuse of his authority, and those directly affected by this are convinced that he is guilty, then he should be effectively stripped of this authority until his innocence can be shown."

Proposition 5: "If one is caring for a patient who is conscious but in critical condition, and is aware that the likelihood of the patient's survival is very low, one ought to make the patient aware of this fact."

Proposition 6: "If are a strong but aging warrior and a young child are both in danger of death to illness or injury, and there are only the resources to definitely save the life of one, the warrior should be saved."

Proposition 7: " 'Pure logic' - logic unaffected by ones emotions or experiences cannot exist within the mind of any human."

Proposition 8: "It is wiser to focus on learning to make good decisions in less important but more likely situations, than to ask questions about 'what I would do' if faced with less probable situations of greater consequence."

Proposition 9: "A nation's first responsibility is to the larger world, then to its people."

Proposition 10: "When writing a treaty or contract, it is more important for ones phrasing to show respect, trust, and the assumption that the other party will be reasonable than to focus on covering all significant contingencies."

Proposition 11: "If an Accepted with battle rights strongly suspects a man among her group to be a male channeler, it is wise for her to continue to work with that group to assess whether he is one rather than EITHER to have him warranted and attack him OR to confront him demanding that he come to the Tower to be tested by the Red Ajah."

Proposition 12: "If a known male channeler who is not known to be a darkfriend or murderer joins a battle against trollocs, one ought to continue fighting the trollocs before dealing with the tainted man."

Proposition 13: "The conclusions that one comes to when analyzing causal relationships in history will inevitably be confined by the researcher's assumptions and thus unavoidably hide certain truths."

Proposition 14: "If exactly one dose of an herb with established curative properties is known to exist, and accurate analysis of such would consume the entire sample, then performing this analysis is the most important use of this sample."
