- At the start of the fishery, every rod had a fish on if the tide wasn't running too hard.
- Every fish was over 20 pounds in 1969, some going as high as 45 pounds.
- When it was nice, the captain went for a swim (before the sharks arrived).
- Plenty of big tilefish in 1970.
- More in 1971.
- By the late 1970s the fish were noticeably smaller.
