The Jedi Order

Basic Code of Conduct

As Jedi we do not worship the Force. But we do heed it and listen to the wisdom reveled within it. Remember that this Force courses through the veins of all things. For that reason treat yourself and those around you as if they are a part of yourself. As all things are part of the Force.

We are all growing and learning in the Jedi Ways. In our knowledge of the Force. But just as humans are all growing, some have grown to a greater degree then others. As such freely acknowledge this fact. After all there is nothing wrong with being a beginner or not as far along the path as another. Treat those who are farther along then you with parental respect and heed them well. For they are there to guide and help you. Not to hinder and belittle you.

As Jedi we seek to only connect with the Force when calm and at peace, so that the energy we use reflects these things. When it is used otherwise, it becomes the net by which you are eventually snared and entangled.

We believe that all beings are part of the Force. As such all Jedi are part of the same Order. Even if they are part of a specific sub-sect or group of Jedi. They are still Jedi and as such part of the Order.

It is all right to be proud of being a Jedi. It is after all no small accomplishment and not one undertaken lightly. But be ever-mindful not to slip into a pool of vanity. Once you fall in, it is difficult to find your way back out of it.

Speak little and listen much. Reserve judgment until all facts are in.

While a Jedi is often seen as one who is calm and peaceful. Realize that to achieve those states one must be joyful and happy with themselves and who they are.

While your teachers serve the Force by giving the seeds of knowledge, it is up to you to sow them and tend them. Thus you alone reap what you sow. Remember that deceit and misuse of power and knowledge will only come back to haunt you in the end.

Do not gossip about fellow Jedi or hold any malice against them.

Do not lie, for what you say affects many and reflects on the entire Order not just yourself.

Be nonjudgmental of those who do not follow the Jedi Ways.

Keep your word to fellow Jedi, for such an oath is not to be taken lightly.

Never use the Jedi Ways to do harm; in doing so, you bring harm onto yourself.

Never betray your fellow Jedi; rather, embrace the virtues of honor and wisdom.

Never speak with your mouth what is not in your heart.

Never speak ill of others, for doing so shows only that you have much to work on within yourself.

Because no Jedi has the right to endanger the entire Order, all members must follow the laws of the land.

Never accept money for performing the tasks you under take in service to the Force or the Order.

Never steal. Doing so will cause you to slip into habits unbecoming of a Jedi.

Honor all people and respect them; let there eyes reflect your soul.

Never accept the pledge of anyone's life, no matter how deeply she or he is indebted to you. To do so is personally burdensome, and will hinder your progress in the Jedi Ways.

Remember no one should die without dignity, love, and respect. Act accordingly.

Teach and guide your students and children with honor and peacefulness, and remember that they are part of the Force.

It is up to each Jedi to maintain their personal energy within the Force. In doing so they allow the Universe to flux and flex when necessary.

Respect your knowledge and skills, yourself and your energy, and the Jedi Ways. Know that everyone who crosses your path --- even if only for a moment --- is there to teach you something.

Stay physically and mentally fit, for only then will the energy in you remain health as well.

Remember this. The Force is not there to carry you or hinder you, or keep you from having the same opportunities as anyone else. You are free, and will not be coddled like babies. If you have true devotion and desire within you to become a Jed, then any obstacle will be overcome.

Each Jedi should keep a personal journal, detailing their lessons and recording their progress.

As Jedi we study Jedi Lore as we would any Mythology. We do not take it as gospel but as a guidepost.

As Jedi we often will sacrifice some personal pleasure for the good of all realizing that in doing so we serve the Force.

While Jedi may use the Force to help themselves. It is never done only for personal gain. But instead we help ourselves so that we may help others. If it serves to help only ourselves we don't do so.

To preserve the Jedi Ways, often times some silence and secrecy are needed when dealing with those who seek to do only harm.

For the continuance of the Jedi Ways, we must work towards achieving both mundane and spiritual balance, and do so in a calm and peaceful way.

Educate those who want to learn, but let knowledge and wisdom be your guide. In doing so you prevent it's misuse.

If a member of the Order needs your aid. Give it when you can as long as in doing so. It serves the will of the Force and doesn't cause you unbearable hardships.

Do not turn away anyone who seeks knowledge of the Force. Help them, instead, in their quest as long as their intentions are correct.

Educate those who hearts are true and their intentions honest.

All Jedi must strive to achieve harmony within themselves.

In disputes involving Jedi against Jedi, only a tribunal of the Elders may pass judgment.

Guests of the Order are to be treated as part of the Order community.

Members of the Order who do not wish to work towards learning the Jedi Ways should be turned away from the Order.

A gift given to any Jedi for services done as a duty of the Order, is a gift given to the Order. As Jedi we seek to keep only that which we need.

The Force may be used to prevent others from coming to harm, but if possible it is wise to always consult the elders of the Order and let them decide the proper course of action to be taken.

Elders will settle all differences within the Order, and do so using common sense and justice.

We hope that someday all the various sub-groups will feel at liberty to meet for whatever reason they have, but only if they do so in absolute peace and harmony. Thus avoiding the coming together to only exchange insults and hardships on one another.

As Jedi when you mediate quarrels between others, you should hear both sides privately, and then together. Then settle the matter with fairness and wisdom. If no agreement can be reached, however, then seek to find the best answer for all involved.

Those guilty of wrongdoing without knowledge are held innocent; those guilty of wrongdoing by reckless behavior will be dealt with according to the nature of the offense; those guilty of intentional wrongdoing shall be punished by the laws of the Order.

Teachers of the Jedi Ways must possess the virtues of ability, belief, wisdom, humility, knowledge, leadership and patience as well as have a calm nature.

Accept the advice of the Teachers when it is given, question wisely, then weigh their wisdom.

Should a Teacher grow weary of their duties, they may step down --- but only after training someone to fill their position.
