"Home Study"

A licensed social worker interviews you and all members of your home, collects references, visits your home, and finally, determines if you are fit to be a parent (or parents, if you are a couple). All information collected by the social worker is written up in a report which called a "home study". The home study is sent to immigration (CIS) for US government approval and eventually becomes part of your dossier sent to China.
