It is the belief of the Delmarva Peninsula Golf Association, "that golf activities can be promoted through organized effort on the Delmarva Peninsula, and that these activities will foster a spirit of   fellowship and goodwill, as well as mutual understanding among the citizens of the communities of the Delmarva Peninsula."

 

 

 

 

 

 


SENIORS TOURNAMENT REQUIREMENTS

 

1. Only amateur golfers of D.P.G.A. member clubs, which have paid dues by the time of the event, may enter.

2. Tournament policy is to be received at the clubs at least four weeks before the event. Publicity must include format, fee, date, meal and prizes.

3. A shotgun start is recommended.

4. U.S.G.A. Rules shall be followed except where amended by local rules or conditions. These local rule exceptions should be conspicuously posted prior to tee-off.

5. All ties for first-place awards and circulating trophies will be determined by sudden death (medal play hole by hole from #1 tee), except limited by daylight or weather conditions. If a play-off is not possible, cards will be matched, starting at a hole chosen by the Rules Committee prior to the tournament.

6. The host club will provide starters, scorers and a Rules Committee.

7. The D.P.G.A. contribution to the tournament is to be used for prizes only and a receipt must be provided to the Administrative Assistant. The player entry fee may be added to the prizes. Prizes are subject to verification upon request by the Administrative Assistant.

8. A resume of the tournament and a budget shall be filed with the Administrative Assistant within ten days following the conclusion of the event.

9. Maximum allowable handicap for this event is 36.

10. Entry fee is to cover the l8-hole competition and a buffet for participants. Additional favors may be awarded at the discretion of the host club.

11. Competition will be divided into age group flights, with at least two low net prizes and two low gross prizes awarded in each flight.

12. The player in the tournament with the lowest gross score, regardless of the flight, will be declared D.P.G.A. Seniors champion. He will be awarded the circulating trophy to be exhibited at this club for one year. The player with the lowest net score, regardless of the flight, will be awarded a circulating trophy to be exhibited at his club for one year.

13. A special prize will be awarded to the oldest participant in the tournament.

14. Flights will be determined by age. The breakdown will be determined by the entries and at the discretion of the host club. A recommendation of flight breakdowns is as follows:

 

            Flight A 50-56 years

            Flight B 57-62 years

            Flight C 63-69 years

            Flight D 70 years and up
