1970 442 Convertible
1970 OLDSMOBILE 442 CONVERTIBLE
We are going to take a trip back in time and tell you about the history of the 1970 442 Oldsmobile convertible that Daryl Bureski currently drives.Daryl's ride is powered by the Oldsmobile 455 big block engine, along with the high performance W-30 package, featuring cold air induction system, high lift camshaft, aluminum intake manifold and a completely balanced and blueprinted engine built to specifications for NHRA Stock Eliminator Racing.
This car was originally built to replace the original HIS 'N' HERS 1968 HURST/OLDS race car owned and driven by Bill and Judi Bureski.
The original HIS 'N' HERS was destroyed in a highway towing accident in September of 1976.The 1970 body style was selected to replace the 1968 HURST,since this was a body style that Oldsmobile kept in production for 3 years. The 3 years of this body style gave it flexibility in moving the car with different engine combinations into 4 different NHRA stock classes.
Currently, the car is being raced in the E/SA class, with the original body style.Minimum weight with driver is 3770 pounds.
This 442 convertible is a very desired car among collectors, since it is one of the few INDY 500 PACE CARS that was produced.Oldsmobile only made 268 Pace Cars with the Y-74 option on the 442.

Follow along and we will show you from start to present how this race car has changed over the years.
