The Tuttle Family
by George F. Tuttle

"Descendants of Wm. & Elizabeth Tuttle, who came from
Old to New England in 1635, & settled in New Haven in 1639"

George Frederick Tuttle
814 pages; 1883; The Tuttle Publishing Company, Rutland, VT.

This book was perhaps the first major compilation of the history of the Tuttle family lines in America. It detailed research into the origins in England of the several different Tuttle and Tuthill family lines and extensive information about their descendants in America. The book served also as an "attractor" for a large amount of additional information. Descendants of the Tuttle and Tuthill lines wrote to George F. Tuttle and sent him large amounts of genealogy information, between the time that his book was published and his death in 1904. This data accumulation -- "seven large boxes of letters, papers, notes, newspaper clippings, etc." -- became available, many years later in 1952, to Alva Maurice Tuttle of Columbus, OH. The data had been preserved by The Tuttle Publishing Company and were given to Alva by Miss Berenice Rachel Tuttle, born 24-Mar-1880.

Reprinted copies of the original G. F. Tuttle book are available for purchase from the Higginson Book Company of Salem, MA. It can also be found in many of the genealogy libraries and perhaps in the better public libraries. The genealogy information was reviewed, revised, and incorporated into Alva M. Tuttle's book, Tuttle * Tuthill Lines In America.
