Dear Parents/Guardians:
The graduation ceremony for the Class of 2009 will be held on May 21st. Due to the construction of our new athletic facilities, we have had to make adjustments to parking and access into and out of Memorial Field.
The graduation ceremony begins at 7:00 p.m. on Memorial Field. If possible, I encourage you to walk to the ceremony as parking is very limited. Parking will be available along adjacent streets and at the Middle School. The High School parking lots will be reserved for students in the Class of 2009, platform guests, and faculty members. When accessing Memorial Field please do so through the gates located on Wealthy Street. The gates at Lake Drive and Lakeside will not be open to pedestrian traffic. Handicap drop off and pick up will be available on Wealthy Street adjacent to the Memorial Field entrance.
Handicap seating is available on the field’s west side. Seating for family and friends will be available in the bleachers on the west side of the field (home team bleachers), yet access to this set of bleachers is open only at the north end of the bleachers. Spectators are also welcome to stand on the newly completed south end zone plaza; however, access to the plaza is open only via the north ends of the bleachers. At the conclusion of the ceremony, family and friends are welcome to come onto the field to visit with the graduates. Entry to field can be made at any of the north end gates or at the gate in the southeast corner of the field.
I hope you will join us for this culminating event for our students. The Class of 2009 has planned a wonderful ceremony and looks forward to sharing it will you.
Sincerely,
Jennifer S. Fee

On Tuesday, May 26th the EGR athletic department will host Dr. Greg Dale from Duke University. Dr. Dale will be in the PAC(7pm) speaking to parents of athletes on "Helping Athletes Have a Successful Sport Experience". Greg Dale is a professor of Sport Psychology and Ethics, the director of the leadership program for Duke University Athletics, and has been featured on Good Morning America and MSNBC.
This will be the third year we have hosted him and the event is a requirement for all parents of incoming 9th graders wanting to participate in athletics here at the high school. This workshop is free of charge and has been strongly recommended by past participants for all athletes and their parents. Thank you for spreading the word on this event throughout our community! All are welcomed to attend.

Parents--Please support your child in arriving to school in the morning in a timely manner. Our data indicates that there were over 3,000 tardies to 1st hour classes in the first semester of this year--an average of three tardies per student! When students arrive late to class they are missing important introductory information and instructional time and can also be a distraction to the class upon their arrival.
Thank you for supporting our efforts to reduce tardies.
