Lang's most current tether simulation work has been related to a variety of diverse activities, to wit: (1) Tether dynamics analysis and engineering services for the Space Elevator project in behalf of the Institute for Scientific Research (ISR) and NASA Marshall Space Flight Center, and is working in cooperation with Dr. Brad Edwards. Under this sponsorship, GTOSS is undergoing many modifications that greatly facilitate its use in studying space elevator problems; (2) Analyzing complex ground-tether-constrained balloon logging systems to provide ecologically friendly forestry harvesting in Canada; (3) Applying tether simulation capabilities to advanced wind-power development efforts using kites or other unconventional schemes of wind power harvesting.
