This
deserves some explanation.
A while back, one of my favorite television programs was Mystery Science
Theater 3000.
This show featured a guy and two robots (Joel, Tom Servo, and Crow) who
were trapped on a orbiting space satellite and forced to watch bad movies
as part of a demented science experiment. Featuring some of
the worst tripe every put on film, Joel and the bots would
heckle the movies without mercy making fun of every bad prop, stage
effect, and clumsy dialog line.
The show was very, very,
funny.
One of the most stunning baaad best of the worst movies was "Manos, the
Hand of Fate" (featuring "Torgo" the hunchback servant
with his evil menacing kneecaps). In the film
there is a portrait of the main bad guy, Manos, displayed above a
fireplace. I did my best to recreate the Manos portrait
as part of my Halloween party decorations for a party a couple of years ago.
Just to add a bit more class (cough)
I touched up the whites of eyes on this painting with florescent acrylic. . They glow in the dark, making this painting really freaky in dim light. I later was sold it on Ebay.
In the not too distant future,
next Sunday A.D., there
lives a guy named Joel,
not so different from
your or me....
