WarningSum:...Winter Storm Warning Remains In Effect From 8 Am This Morning
To 1 Am Est Thursday...

Warning Message:A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from 8 am this morning
to 1 am EST Thursday.
This Winter Storm Warning includes northern Connecticut...Rhode
Island and south of Interstate 90 in Massachusetts. This includes
the cities of Hartford...Springfield...Worcester...Boston...
Providence...Taunton...Brockton...Plymouth...Fall River and New
Bedford.
Snow is expected to develop between 8 am and noon across the warning
area and will become heavy at times this afternoon and evening.
Snowfall rates of up to two inches per hour will be possible for a
time...especially across Connecticut...Rhode Island...and
southeastern Massachusetts. This will result in hazardous travel this
afternoon and evening...and be the cause of a treacherous evening
commute. Winds will increase as the day progresses...and especially
early this evening. This may cause near-blizzard conditions at
times.
As for snowfall totals...snow accumulations of 5 to 9 inches are
probable near the Mass Pike...with higher amounts as one heads
southward. Storm total snowfall amounts will probably range from 9 to
15 inches across portions of northern Connecticut...Rhode
Island...and southeastern Massachusetts. The snow will be heavy and
wet for a time...especially near the coast. This combined with
increasing winds will likely lead to scattered power outages.
The snow is expected to taper off an end after midnight.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Storm Warning is issued when an average of 6 or more
inches of snow is expected in a 12 hour period...or for 8 or more
inches in a 24 hour period. Travel will be slow at best on well
treated surfaces...and quite difficult on any unplowed or
untreated surfaces.

WarningSum:...High Wind Warning Now In Effect From 6 Pm This Evening To 5 Am
Est Thursday...

gusts to 60 mph from late afternoon through tonight. Scattered power
outages are likely across the warning area.

A High Wind Warning is issued when sustained winds of 40 mph are
expected for at least an hour...with gusts of 58 mph or greater
at any time. Damage to trees...power lines...and property are
